We were taking too much for granted at the end of the Cold War.

A little more than a century ago, a U.S. President asked our armed forces to cross the ocean to make the world safe for democracy.

Today, we must support democracy to make the world safe, and we should do so with confidence.

I do believe that we need to see this as an opportunity, and I think that the pandemic has, in fact, proven the importance of having more cooperative activity.
