“That is a big chunk, but how many police officers and firefighters and EMT workers they included in that number, I don't know. I would not be surprised if, of the million or million and a half or maybe 2 million who were not part time who were included, it is probably close to about half that. I don't know because this report did not have the integrity to put the numbers on their people. They also included nurses. As we just had this little exchange, nurses are already exempt from FLSA. The reason for that is they are deemed to be essentially professional as a result of their training experience. The present law is fairly clear in this area. I believe I have it somewhere here. Basically it makes it very clear that nurses are not covered by FLSA. The reason nurses get overtime is because the vast majority of nurses reach a contractual agreement in their union negotiations which gives them overtime. Those are not going to be changed, obviously. As a practical matter, nurses should not be included. So there you have another, who knows, 200,000-plus people who were added to this 8 million number, which is bogus.”
