I agree one hundred percent with his opening statement, and think it was an eloquent recitation of the importance of the filibuster and the rules of the Senate in protecting the Minority.

I think Dr. Rivlin is absolutely correct on both points, and Simpson-Bowles did the same thing that Domenici-Rivlin did, which was to actually increase benefits to single women over 85, and low-income individuals.
Design the programs. Decide how large the government is going to be. Do a tax reform to finance it.
A lot of that economic growth was driven by a bubble, and I don't really think we want to revisit that.
