“We need to put a real face on this issue--we need to put a face on the patients, and I think it is legitimate to put a face on the other way. I think it is legitimate to put a face on somebody who has had a claim of malpractice and actually had malpractice committed against them, and it is also fair to put faces on those people who now are having trouble finding the kind of health care they need. This is a balancing act, there is no question about it. There is no perfect answer to this situation. I wish there were. The fact is, the current system is driving health care providers out of the practice of medicine, hospitals are closing down, and we need to correct the situation so that when we seek health care in an emergency situation or in a nonemergency situation, we will have the kind of care we need.”
