If we do not have the resources to hire the enforcement officers that we need, the tax gap will only grow.
The immediate need is for Congress to pass legislation that will permit them to restructure their debt.
I totally agree with you, we should be able to put more resources into working on identifying the sources of the tax gap.
We can't just cut the things that we need to grow in order to reduce the deficit more in the short run.
