during Operation Iraqi Freedom, our military relied upon MREs to an extent never before seen in the history of modern combat. Due to concerns about the safety of the local food supply, Operation Iraqi Freedom and the subsequent mission has relief almost entirely on MREs to feed our soldiers. It is my understanding at the height of the operation, the Department of Defense was consuming roughly 300,000 cases of MREs per week. Is the chairman aware of this unprecedented use of MREs?
