Food can't be weaponized. It just cannot.

So if you cannot feed your little girl in 2 weeks and the only show in town is a terrorist group, so many men have signed up because they have no other alternative.

Whether this precarious situation turns into a true global famine depends largely on what the United States, European Union, China and other large and wealthy nations do now.

At a minimum, an additional $5 billion dollars for food assistance from the United States will provide WFP and other aid agencies with the support we need to stem the rising tide of famine.
