Israel has always said that it has no intention in staying in Lebanon one second more than is absolutely necessary.

I beseeched and urged my colleagues at the Security Council not to play into the hands of the Hezbollah and Iran and Syria, because that's what they want.

Well, our first priority is to bring our boys home and to stop the shelling of our cities. But as you said, it now goes far beyond that. The Hezbollah needs to be totally eliminated and incapable of doing what they're doing at the moment.

This war is not just about the safety of Israel or the freedom of Lebanon, it is about preserving civilization as we know it.
