If we don't act, if we are timorous and if we have an enhanced likelihood similar to the Macondo, that we are all going to be pointed at as to why we were unable to recognize and why we were unwilling to act in the public interest.
Our hope is that Congress would take the steps necessary to continue funding any remaining clean-up activities and ensure that victims are compensated even if the payout limit is reached.
