I feel there is information that is being hidden within the executive branch, coming from somewhere. I do not know whether it is coming from the White House. I do not know whether it is coming from the executive office of the President. But from somewhere, there seems to be some kind of pressure being applied to the Attorney General to keep her from proceeding with the appointment of an independent counsel, as Members of this body individually have urged her to do, including Members of the Democratic side of this body, who have urged the Attorney General to proceed with the appointment of the independent counsel. For example, the senior Senator from New York [Mr. Moynihan] has said it is time for an independent counsel.
