A major step toward legalizing same-sex marriage here in the nation's capital today: D.C. mayor Adrian Fenty signed a bill to that affect, passed by the city council Tuesday.

Today's decision flies in the face of laws that have helped decrease gun violence in the District of Columbia.

What better measure of success than the desire of parents, the desire of citizens, citizens of the District, to continue the program?
