“I expect the Finance Committee to have a deliberative process on CHIP reauthorization early next year, where we can hear from Members, Governors, CHIP directors, families and others about the CHIP financing structure, the allotment timeframe, populations covered and any other relevant issues of concern. As far as I'm concerned, we come to this process with a clean slate and we will have an honest dialogue about the future of this vital program. For right now, however, I hope that we can pass this legislation, so that no child loses coverage before we have a chance to reauthorize the program next year.”
