“I appreciate Chairman Cochran's understanding and concern. I have seen some of the devastation in the gulf and want to express my sympathy and pledge my support to help. Montanans have seen the devastation and like me, they have opened their arms and hearts to Gulf State evacuees. I hope that the chairman will join me in pledging his support for taking immediate action to help alleviate the critical needs faced by Americans in the gulf as well as citizens across the country regarding food assistance. The Senate should act, and act now to provide Americans relying on food assistance assurance that the resources they rely upon will be there when they need it.”
