Our pine forests are in desperate need of attention and while we certainly wouldn't want to log it all, the establishment of a sustainable timber base coupled with stewardship projects that return harvested areas to productive use quickly, and provide for protected water and wildlife sanctuaries, represents sound thinking that will serve Montanans for many generations to come.
