“I thank the gentlewoman from New York for the time. It is quite clear that a short-term CR is not in the best interest of the country. It is quite clear that the politics of Homeland Security puts us at risk as a Nation. All of the things that have gone on over the last few weeks say that we have to have a fully funded Department--our men and women in the Coast Guard, Customs and Border Protection, and Transportation Security Administration, all those entities on the front line keeping us safe. A 3-week CR that kicks the can down the road does not keep us safe. It only says that it is ``politics as usual.''
