Bennie Thompson: “This entire thing was a sham from the start.”

The department was using 'flat out wrong anti-union talking points.'

Essentially turning them into 'jails,' which the Mississippi Democrat says would constitute a misuse of the facilities.

There you have it. House Republicans have an hour to debate a nonbinding symbolic resolution but not even a few seconds to do the job that would actually pay our DHS workers. This is the Republican DHS shutdown.

Suffice to say, disaster response is no joke.
