It is reckless to propose this amendment. Not only does it allow them to come here on our own shores and live in our own neighborhoods, but the administration has estimated it would cost potentially $475 million just to move them here. It also removes the prohibition that these detainees could be transferred to Somalia, Libya, and Syria. We do not want these terrorists released back onto the battlefield where they could kill our soldiers. This is a reckless amendment. It needs to be defeated. We need to keep them at GTMO, use our taxpayer dollars wisely, and ensure the safety of our neighborhoods.
