Laurel Lee: “I encourage all of my colleagues to support this very important and sensible amendment.”

I believe Congress should pass an amendment to the U.S. Constitution specifying that only American citizens may vote in federal elections.

In 15 states where it has appeared on the ballot in recent years, voters have supported measures regarding citizen-only voting by a margin of roughly 3 to 1.

The fact that a foreign national can give directly or indirectly to influence a ballot issue is a loophole that needs to be closed

Together, these benefits strengthen public confidence in our elections.
