“Another one of our activities is that we are the secretary to the congressional study group in Germany composed of 130 sitting Members of the House. It is a bipartisan group and, obviously, it works on trying to understand better what is going on in Germany and the Germans understanding of what is going on here. It is funded primarily by a grant from the German Marshall Fund of the United States to the association. We had a meeting of the study group in April in the district of the gentleman from Virginia (Mr. Owen Pickett). I would like the gentleman from Virginia, the Honorable Dennis Hertel, who attended the meeting, to discuss this event and explain the study group to us a little bit. Dennis.”
