The average American will work 190 days this year to pay his or her share of government. That is 13 days to pay interest on the national debt, 15 days to pay for national defense, 29 days to pay for Social Security and Medicare, 36 days to pay for all other Federal programs, 42 days to pay for Federal regulations, and 55 days to pay for State and local taxes and other local regulations. The remaining 175 days, they get to work for themselves.
