I think we will find more and more of these pharmaceutical companies are spending more on advertising and marketing than they are on research and development. One of the things talked about in this book, there was a study done by the Boston Globe, and they took a close look at the 35 most important and top-selling drugs that the FDA approved over the previous 5 years. All but two of them had been brought through the R&D pipeline with the help of the NIH or the FDA.”
