I was surprised to learn how many people in America were paying extra taxes just because they were married. That is just not bad tax policy; that is not just bad family policy. At the end of the day there is something almost fundamentally immoral for us as a Federal Government to say they are going to pay extra taxes just because they have a marriage license.
