I think we need to remind people what some of the cynics said. We originally came to Washington and said, you know, we are going to limit the growth of entitlements, we are going to cut domestic discretionary spending, we are going to put a flexible freeze on defense spending, and we are going to cut taxes, and we are going to balance the budget. The cynics said you cannot do that; I mean, you cannot balance the budget. In fact, you used the term earlier, you blow a hole in the budget. That is a reckless scheme to want to balance the budget while you are kiting taxes, because some of our liberal friends believe that it is their money and that Washington can spend it best; the last thing we should ever do here in this city is cut taxes on American families. But thanks to the leadership of the chairman of the Committee on Ways and Means and the leadership here in the House as well as the Senate, they said no, no, we are going to balance the budget and we are going to cut tax.
