I thank the gentlelady from Texas for her amendment. It is an important one because it limits the use of customer stay provisions to smaller businesses. This is very, very important. Mr. Chair, this amendment would improve the customer stay provision by limiting the use of the provision to smaller businesses, those who most likely did not know they were infringing when they bought and used a modern scanner or a fax machine. They are most likely local mom-and- pop shops. So, in preventing larger businesses from using the customer stay provision to avoid litigation, this amendment will also help protect the ability of individual inventors and entrepreneurs to enforce their patent rights. Please support the Jackson Lee amendment.
