“during my time of almost 7 years as chairman of the Appropriations Committee, I have met with Dr. Von Eschenbach quite often. We had many requests for documents. I can't remember once that he refused. But beyond that, I came to the floor today to say that I have gotten to know Dr. Von Eschenbach personally, and I can't think of a more qualified man at this time to be confirmed to this position. I hope the Senate will vote cloture and we will confirm Dr. Andrew von Eschenbach as requested by the President. I thank the Chair.”
