The Parliamentarian's office has indicated to my staff that the wireless alert capability language in the act does not preclude the Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee from considering legislation next year to address FEMA's role with respect to the emergency alert system, and I commit to working with you to develop a bill that will set forth FEMA's role with respect to new emergency alert capabilities.
