I commend James Avery, Justus Thigpen Sr., and all the folks who are leading the charge on this revitalization project, and I was proud to be a federal partner in their efforts.

“While this is a positive step forward, the job is not finished until full operations are restored at every impacted Coast Guard station in Michigan, and I’ll keep pushing until that happens.”

It now has state of the art equipment there to train crews on how to clean up oil spills, so we don’t have to wait two weeks for a submersible. It can be there like in an hour and a half, it’s very close. We’re gaining the expertise there…

Making sure we can recruit and retain highly skilled professionals for this essential workforce will improve railway safety in communities across the country.
