The newly renovated Pontiac Oaks Park is a prime example of what’s possible when federal, state, and local officials work together to achieve a common goal.

I feel deeply honored to receive this recognition and I’m thrilled to celebrate this new community space alongside residents and partners.

I commend James Avery, Justus Thigpen Sr., and all the folks who are leading the charge on this revitalization project, and I was proud to be a federal partner in their efforts.

It now has state of the art equipment there to train crews on how to clean up oil spills, so we don’t have to wait two weeks for a submersible. It can be there like in an hour and a half, it’s very close. We’re gaining the expertise there…
