And thanks to the leadership of Environment and Public Works Committee Chairman Inhofe and Ranking Member Boxer, the Senate a few weeks ago voted 95-3 to approve the Water Resources Development Act with this desperately needed funding. Unfortunately, the CR before us today addresses disaster funding for flooding in Louisiana and other communities, but asks the families of Flint to wait at the back of the line again. I cannot support a CR that includes funding for other communities but not Flint, whose residents have waited too long for much-needed aid. However, because of the stalwart support of my colleagues-- particularly vice chairwoman of the Senate Appropriations Committee Barbara Mikulski, Environment and Public Works Committee Ranking Member Barbara Boxer, and Democratic leaders Harry Reid and Nancy Pelosi-- Republicans in the House of Representatives have agreed to a path forward for enacting legislation this year that contains assistance for the people of Flint.…”
