Mr. President, I strongly oppose this amendment. This relates to a very important growth area in agriculture regarding farmers markets. We now have farmers markets all across the country in every community, providing the chance for local growers to come together, for families to receive healthy food and have access to local food in their communities. I know in Michigan for every $10 families spend at a farmers market we have $40 million in economic activity--just in Michigan alone, for $10. I strongly urge a ``no'' vote on this amendment. The PRESIDING OFFICER. The question is on agreeing to the amendment. The amendment (No. 2432) was rejected. The PRESIDING OFFICER. The Senator from Michigan.
