The United States is the world's greatest Nation, and we owe this success in large part to the commitment we have made to learning. Today the Congress affirms its commitment to education. The bill before us today continues favorable tax treatment when employers pay for employee education. Employers benefit from this education tax assistance through access to a better educated and more productive work force. Employees benefit from this provision by enhancing their education and expanding their opportunities. By promoting education, we ensure the United States maintains the most educated and productive work force in the world. As an original cosponsor of this proposal, I am pleased it was included in the bill. It preserves our tradition of excellence and affirms our commitment to education and to lifelong learning.
