I thank the gentleman. That was beautiful. We continue in our effort to capture the life of a great man who served in this House. Again, another fact: Since 1989, John Conyers had introduced H.R. 40, the Commission to Study Reparation Proposals for African Americans Act. This bill would establish a commission to examine the institution of slavery in the United States. The legislation has now been taken up by our colleague from Texas, Congresswoman Sheila Jackson Lee. Mr. Speaker, I yield to the gentleman from Pennsylvania (Mr. Evans), my colleague who has shown to be a voice of reason, hard work, and compassion in his service to Congress.
