Susan Collins: “Before the Senator from Rhode Island leaves the floor, let me thank…”

On the recordJuly 16, 2015

Before the Senator from Rhode Island leaves the floor, let me thank him for his kind comments. I have enjoyed working with him on issues such as hospice care and advanced planning. I know these issues are very important to him, as they are to me. I am happy we are able to collaborate on a GAO request and also on a hearing later this year. So I thank him for his efforts in resolving this issue so that the reauthorization of the Older Americans Act could go forward. ____________________

The bottom line is, I support him when I think he's right. I don't when I think he's wrong.

By strengthening this critical rail corridor, this funding will support local jobs and help keep Aroostook County’s forest products and agricultural industries competitive for years to come.

He'll be 100 in seniority, and all of that essential federal funding targeted for the state of Maine, virtually all of it will go away.
