“on March 3, a C-23 Sherpa aircraft was returning 18 members of the Virginia National Guard to their home following two weeks of training duty in Florida, and tragically, the plane never arrived. The aircraft crashed in Unadilla, Georgia, killing all 21 National Guardsmen on board and forever leaving a void in the lives of the families and friends of those brave individuals. I wish to offer my most heart-felt condolences to those affected by this terrible accident. While it may be inadequate consolation, it is important to remember that all of these individuals serve as a shining example of the honor and self-sacrifice which has inspired the men and women of our armed forces throughout the history of our great country.
