It is disturbing for me to hear Troy say that everything should be free, when in fact it’s going to be middle- and low-income taxpayers who are going to be paying the bill.
While I agree these principles should guide the administration and oversight of Federal funds, the rule would impose new, burdensome requirements on award recipients … and conflict with Congress’ control over the federal funding process.
“I believe that all of us must avoid that kind of dangerous and disturbing rhetoric, because it could in fact trigger violence,” Collins added.
I was pleased that the bill prevents the OMB from implementing its proposed rule, which would politicize grants and harm small, rural communities, families, and biomedical research.
