this is really an unfortunate circumstance that we are being forced as citizens of our country to have to reimport drugs that are manufactured in our country under our country's supervision in FDA-approved laboratories, but in order to be able to get affordable prescription medicines to our citizens. Our citizens are paying 33 to 50 percent higher for the same drugs. This is no different from some of our agriculture farmers who recognize the importation of products that are manufactured here but sold overseas cheaper. It is cheaper to bring it in than it is to pay for it at the same level in our own country, and we are being put through this process. Mr. Chairman, this amendment will allow us to get those safe, FDA- approved, reviewed and supervised prescription drugs to our seniors that need it. Our State needs this relief now.
