“I believe that, by and large, this is a very good piece of legislation. I support extension of the expiring provisions, and I am pleased that we will have this chance today to ensure that these provisions do not expire and that there will be no lapse in these valuable tax credits. The Research Experimentation Credit is important to Massachusetts. Massachusetts is the home of many high-tech companies and universities that develop technology. The research tax credit inspires the development of technology, which leads to both economic and job growth. The work opportunity tax credit plays a vital role in helping individuals move from welfare to work. This credit is a valuable program that enables many individuals to become self-sufficient. The program has been effective, and it should indeed be continued. Madam Speaker, there is one provision I believe, however, that should have been included in this legislation.”
