Mike Capuano is a former U.S. Representative from Massachusetts, serving from 1999 to 2019. A member of the Democratic Party, he represented Massachusetts's 8th congressional district. During his tenure, Capuano was known for his advocacy on issues such as healthcare, education, and civil rights. He served on several committees, including the Transportation and Infrastructure Committee, where he focused on infrastructure development and public transportation improvements in his district.
We think that type of commission with experts, former elected officials, academicians, people who know the business is a great idea.
An infrastructure bank works. Ranking Member Rahall, you said you had the European folks in.
I am looking to somehow find a balance to actually make progress on infrastructure in a way that is environmentally sensitive.
I actually think that is a stupid rule, and whoever put that rule together should change it.
The mission of FHA, as I understand it, has always been to the more moderate-income people who might have difficulty getting into the housing market.
The question shouldn't be on how much the house cost; it should be on whether the borrower can afford to pay.
We don't want to turn it into the American nightmare by having policy at the Federal level that infringes... on the rights of the people.
I also want to state very clearly that if the chairman or anybody else wants to put the bill out that this committee put out last cycle, we should do it today, get it on the Floor, get it through.
At this very moment FHA has $30.4 billion worth of cash ready and available to cover it.
