People who live in their homes for 40 years under this situation should be able to stay in their home until the last spouse goes.

I want to focus on what the problems are.

Yet, because of a law that makes no sense to me, we are not allowed to use that to offset their principal.

I would like to get the reverse mortgages out of the MMI.

I have some very serious problems with the way we deal with surviving spouses now.

I want to follow up on an important point, because I presume you are all relatively familiar with the congressional process, and how long we take to do anything.

So far, the testimony and the discussion has been exactly what I had hoped for, the least ideological discussion I think I have ever heard on this committee on an important issue.

And one of the things that I think House Republicans, and I think this committee, are committed to is having a robust housing finance market in our country, which is sustainable.
