“I am aware of those facts and of the significant cost to society in the form of dollars and the quality of life. I am also recently aware that research being done in the gentleman's district may lead to significant changes in how we treat pain and offers the promise of reducing the side effects. This research in the area of photon mediated treatment for pain, in effect using light and its associated heat, offers enough hope that I would suggest it as an area of further research within the Department of Veterans Affairs.”
