I share the ranking member's concern that we need to fully understand how this technology can be used for the wrong reasons.

We must also acknowledge its shortcomings so we can ensure it is applied correctly and safely.

NHTSA must regularly review and update the list of companies subject to the SGO. The agency must ensure compliance with the SGO by all subjected companies.

“When something goes wrong inside a company, the workers there are often the first to know. Today, if they bring that information to the FTC, they take the risk alone,” said Congresswoman Lori Trahan.
