The only reason that this is a competitive race is that the GOP nominated Donald Trump again.

That is a very real risk. And I think what we saw before was that American automakers become less competitive when they allow their fleets to stagnate and don't invest in improving efficiency and reducing oil use.

They may have a preference not to invest in new technology and to keep selling the technology they have, but this will leave them vulnerable to oil price changes in the future.

Biden's got to make the case every day against Trump, almost as though he's more of a challenger than the incumbent.
