I do not know what States the chair of the subcommittee is referring to when he talks about murderers being held for 7 or 8 years, and rapists and muggers out on the street. I served as district attorney, as the gentleman knows, in the metropolitan area in Boston. Every single individual who was sentenced and incarcerated for first degree murder is still serving.

That is why I take offense when I hear it is the Community Reinvestment Act that did this. That is baloney.
If they want the market to function in a way where there is no government support, intervention, regulation, they will discover it if there is another September of 2008; it will be a debacle.
It isn't about government overregulating. It is government abdicating its responsibility to supervise.
