No, if we insisted that at some time in the future the Iraqi government paid back to the United States taxpayer a portion, a portion of that $87 billion. The White House insisted on a gift, a giveaway, if you will, of American tax dollars, never to be repaid to the American people.

I believe ardently that it is the responsibility of these Committees to do the oversight that is necessary to repair the damage that was done in the preceding Administration to America's image.
I think we have a lot more to learn, and I agree with the Ranking Member. I would like to learn about how government created this mess.
We owe it to the American people, to our justice system, to attempt to do that.
