“I am aware of the gentleman's expertise in terms of issues involving national security. I do not know whether the gentleman had an opportunity to read just recently the fact that we are now, for the next 6 months, under the benchmark in terms of readiness as far as our Army is concerned. And yet we have members of the administration, an Under Secretary of State and others, such as Richard Perle, who is the former chair of the Defense Policy Board, insinuating that if Syria does not get its act together, they might be the next one subject to a military intervention by the United States. But having said that, I just want to go again back so that those who are listening are aware that that ad attacking Congress, and presumably Democrats, is just simply untrue.”
