We have not received either of the requested plans from the Customs Service. In my view, the Administration clearly has missed an opportunity. In the absence of these reports and in response to concerns expressed by the Senator from New Mexico and others we have urged the Customs Service to look at cost-effective force multiplying technologies to improve border control and support other federal, state and local law enforcement agencies.
