It is such a sad state of affairs that in the greatest country in the history of the world--and you and I both know we've got really serious challenges, we've got real big problems in this country that we're facing, but with all of those problems this is still the greatest country in the history of the world. But what that light of freedom, the Statue of Freedom at the roof of this building right here, the Capitol dome, what that statue stands for, and when you pass through Ellis Island and you see the Statue of Liberty, it represents a freedom that exists nowhere else in the world. All of that is at risk if these kinds of policies continue. I know that's a dramatic statement, but I think most people across the country have recognized that when you take into account the radical level of spending, the unsustainable level of spending going on here in Washington--trillion- dollar-plus deficits as far as the eye can see, the first trillion- dollar deficit in the history of our country was last year, only surpassed now by this year's, and next year looks to be just the same-- everybody knows we can't sustain this level of spending. And then you look, and the President and Speaker Pelosi's plan for taxes is to raise taxes on American families and small businesses. And the American people get it. They know what that means to job creation. They know it's going to stifle job creation. It's going to make it harder for businesses to compete globally.…
