I wish to turn it back for a minute. The people of Haiti live in one of the poorest countries in the world and the Western Hemisphere. It is a country that is close culturally to many of us in the United States--particularly people I represent in Louisiana. We have many Haitian families in New Orleans. We have a close tie with Haiti. We are not a Caribbean state, but we feel a little Caribbean and tropical at times, since we are in the South.…”
