we have brave men and women in harms way in Iraq. They are risking their lives for the cause of freedom and security for our Nation. We have lost soldiers in this war, and now we know that Iraq has taken prisoners. Two of those brave soldiers that have been taken prisoner are from Fort Hood, in my district--Apache pilots from the 1st Battalion, 227th Aviation Regiment. These men and their families are in my prayers. I know they have a very difficult road in front of them. We stand here on the floor of this House to speak for these two pilots, and for all the men and women who may be prisoners of war during this conflict. Iraq, as a signatory of the Geneva Convention, has an obligation to treat American prisoners humanely. We have already received indications that Iraq is not adhering strictly to the Convention. This is outrageous and must change immediately. If I could speak to the prisoners and their families for a moment . . . the whole country is behind you right now. We're thinking of you and praying you will be reunited soon. Your sacrifices for your country will not be forgotten.
