“I hope the American people heard the gentleman point out on this floor that he does not consider the credit card companies in any way responsible for the billions of dollars in debt that have been increased, to a large extent because they have sent out easy credit cards, unsolicited credit cards, to teenagers and senior citizens. According to his philosophy of personal responsibility, I guess drug dealers should not be held responsible for the drug problem in America, because nobody forced those people in America to use drugs. If that is the kind of personal responsibility that is behind this bill, I do not want any part of it.”
